FAQs
What's the difference between "Basic" and "Advanced"?
Any project that budgets $10/head and below would get the basic kit and snacks.
The longer the project, the smaller the $/person can be, as the majority of budget happens in the first few days.
What's the ideal budget?
On a normal, indoor day shoot, $15/head. However, the more you can budget, the better the snacks!
What are the biggest effects on budget?
Beyond the amount of crew and talent, you have take into consideration a number of things.
- Background Actors
- If you have more than 30 BG, and one Crafty person, they'll need an assistant.
- BG spend most of their day waiting around. This means they have little more to do than eat. Make sure to put them in a separate location, away from the main Crafty Table, and set up a separate table for them. They WILL go through everything you put on that table a couple times over, so budget twice as much as you think you'll need.
- Indoor or Outdoor
- On a sound stage, people are comfortable, so they won't go through as much food. Outside is another matter entirely. People go through twice the amounts of liquids, be it water on hot days, or coffee and tea on cold ones. Discomfort leads to more snacking.
- Overnight Shoots
- For similar reasons as above, overnight shoots are killer for your crafty budget. People eat drink for energy, so expect to go through more food on an overnight than any day shoot.
